Eli Daniel Quinn
Custodial Department
College of the Ozarks

Quote from the Supervisor:
“Eli Quinn is someone who best exemplifies the College of the Ozarks work program. Eli has been at the college now for 5 years due to his major in engineering. During that duration he has only worked in custodial. He takes the job seriously and gives it his all when he clocks in. Eli understands that the work program helps pay for his education. He takes ownership in his job and views it as a real job.
In addition to helping pay for his education, he understands the opportunities for self-improvement that the work program offers. He has taken advantage of those opportunities by challenging himself each semester. He takes our grade evaluations seriously and works on improving in the areas that we have encouraged him to. For instance, Eli was shy when coming to college but had a great work ethic. To improve his social skills in the workplace he turned down an office job so he could work on working with others more. From the perspective of his supervisor, he has improved greatly in this area because of his willingness to challenge himself. The work program is a great asset for students if they take advantage of the opportunity it brings. Therefore, I feel that Eli has done this successfully and best exemplifies the work program at College of the Ozarks.”
UNIFIED BY PURPOSE
OUR WORK COLLEGE MEMBERS
There are currently ten federally recognized Work Colleges, and nine are members of the Work Colleges Consortium. These institutions are small, private, liberal arts colleges with modest enrollments that range from about 150 to approximately 1,600 students. Each school is unique and operates the work program in a slightly different fashion. However, “work-learning-service” is a central component of each Work College. Student work, coupled with robust academics and a spirit of service, is the common denominator shared by all the Work Colleges.
