Carlos Ghosan stated “Any job well done that has been carried out by a person who is fully dedicated is always a source of inspiration.” This describes Adam Adkins. As a student in the required leadership LE101 class his passion for service was extremely evident, as was his work ethic. At the time he was working off campus, doing his required work study, volunteering wherever there was a need on campus, and making time to volunteer at the local nursing home and homeless shelters. Adam expressed interest in getting out of his comfort zone, wanting to learn to speak in public and expand his knowledge in business/accounting. He was provided that opportunity with the Career Services and Convocation program. Later, he interned with the VP of Business and Finance in project management accounting, then given an opportunity to stay on in this position. Adam is active in campus Christian Ministries and community service activities. He also volunteers as a teaching assistant with the K-5 technology class, again stepping out of his comfort zone. Adam has grown so much during his college career and is what Mrs. Lloyd classified as a true servant leader, as he is a source of inspiration!

UNIFIED BY PURPOSE

OUR WORK COLLEGE MEMBERS

There are currently ten federally recognized Work Colleges, and nine are members of the Work Colleges Consortium. These institutions are small, private, liberal arts colleges with modest enrollments that range from about 150 to approximately 1,600 students. Each school is unique and operates the work program in a slightly different fashion. However, “work-learning-service” is a central component of each Work College. Student work, coupled with robust academics and a spirit of service, is the common denominator shared by all the Work Colleges.
