Blackburn College, Assistant Manager of Campus, Community and Safety
There is an observed level of kindness and strong work ethic that Taylor demonstrates that is rare for someone in her position. When Taylor entered Blackburn when she came into Campus Safety and from the very first day she demonstrated that she was eager to learn, and eager to grow. She participated fully in the learning of procedures and policies, not just by doing the minimum—being present and being prepared—but by volunteering ideas that showed that she had applied her critical thinking skills to the Department. Sophomore year she took advantage of the Departmental job opportunities and spent hours working towards her current position as an assistant manager. Since the year has started Taylor has displayed a strong sense of leadership and dedication, she is not only a vivacious person to work around but she also shows she cares by the endless amount of appreciation and support she shows for every worker in the Department.
Within the work setting it has been observed that she gets along well with a wide range of students/residents and workers and is respected by them as well. She is an inquisitive, intelligent woman who is determined to make the most of the opportunities in her path and create a better life for herself. Her confidence and eagerness stem from the decision to look at life through an optimistic lense. Once Taylor was overheard speaking to one of the members of leadership about how important they were and how she would work every shift for them that they needed until they felt mentally and physically able to do so. We have had several conversations about how important the Work Program experience has been for her and how it changed her.
