College of the Ozarks

My family wanted me to be set up well and attending an institution like College Of the Ozarks was the clear and obvious choice. Not only do I get to graduate debt free and walk away with four years of quality work experience, but I also get to experience the financial, tangible support of many donors who believe in me and the mission of the College. This impacts my mindset on my degree: I have skin in the game and know how to juggle a lot of responsibility. It's a great transition into adulthood because it cultivates responsibility and hard work to be a productive member in society.
While on campus, I've gotten to work as a sever assistant and serve at The Keeter Center, which is an award-winning, fine-dining and lodge on campus and as a student assistant in the Public Relations department. These jobs have taught me how to work in a fast-paced environment, effectively communicate with others, and take initiative (see a need...meet the need). I like how I'm getting the opportunity to apply my major with my work experience. I see the work program as built-in internship that works with your class schedule, providing you with real-world skills while paying for your education.
UNIFIED BY PURPOSE
OUR WORK COLLEGE MEMBERS
There are currently ten federally recognized Work Colleges, and nine are members of the Work Colleges Consortium. These institutions are small, private, liberal arts colleges with modest enrollments that range from about 150 to approximately 1,600 students. Each school is unique and operates the work program in a slightly different fashion. However, “work-learning-service” is a central component of each Work College. Student work, coupled with robust academics and a spirit of service, is the common denominator shared by all the Work Colleges.
