Paul Quinn College

In Abilene TX, growing up in a mainly single-parent household, I truthfully didn't imagine what going to college would look like. My parents didn't pursue a higher education, and my father was incarcerated when I was younger. College just wasn't talked about much. Throughout high school, with an amazing mother and grandparents, we began to explore a college education since I wanted to show my family it's possible to do whatever you desire if you can work hard. Finances were, and have always been, the biggest challenge in this whole process, I am fully responsible for my own education. Luckily, I was talented enough to get a scholarship to play at my first university but ultimately it was too expensive to maintain. Through some luck, I found Paul Quinn College. Every fear and experience I had around the stigma of a College education has been erased due to the amazing work of Paul Quinn College. I've been blessed to intern at JPMorgan Chase & Co. for 3 years thanks to our Corporate Work Program. In addition, I will graduate debt-free from Paul Quinn, with a resume that can contend for any job I desire.
Who knows where I would've ended up, but I know I’ve become a better professional, and person thanks to my work college experience. As for my future, I aim to attend part-time law school in a few years to pursue a job in corporate law. None of what I’ve gained thus far would have happened without Paul Quinn.
UNIFIED BY PURPOSE
OUR WORK COLLEGE MEMBERS
There are currently ten federally recognized Work Colleges, and nine are members of the Work Colleges Consortium. These institutions are small, private, liberal arts colleges with modest enrollments that range from about 150 to approximately 1,600 students. Each school is unique and operates the work program in a slightly different fashion. However, “work-learning-service” is a central component of each Work College. Student work, coupled with robust academics and a spirit of service, is the common denominator shared by all the Work Colleges.
