“College of the Ozarks had a tremendous impact on my life. My ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously today is a direct result of my days at the College. Working 15 hours a week on campus on top of taking 16 credit hours per week was rigorous. Not to mention trying to balance both of these commitments during baseball season. As students, we certainly learned the importance of organization and hard work. No doubt, these qualities have influenced my life and my work ethic today. I came to College of the Ozarks as a first generation college student. My parents believed in my older brother and I and I definitely credit them for so much of my success. But I would also credit the College and the faculty, in particular, for believing in me. Their support meant so much and now as a professor and the University of Illinois, I do not underestimate the importance of encouraging my students to believe that they can achieve their goals if they work hard.”
